Welcome to itMatters!Dear Student, I want to extend a formal welcome and hope that your first six weeks here at Fresno State have been productive and positive. I am confident your path to graduation will be a successful one, and your college years will present you with valuable experiences and significant choices. Along with the many exciting opportunities that will present themselves, you may also find yourself facing choices that can support or act in opposition to a positive college experience. For this reason, all new incoming freshmen and transfer students at Fresno State have been given the opportunity to complete itMatters. itMatters is a web-based, voluntary intervention aimed at reducing sexually transmitted infections among college students by targeting the important intersection between alcohol use and sexual behaviors, regardless of your current sexual or alcohol use behaviors. This is an opportunity for you to learn more about safe alcohol consumption and sexual health. While this program is not mandatory, we hope that it will help promote the adoption of healthy behaviors throughout your time at Fresno State and beyond. My sincere best wishes for your success - Go Dogs! Frank R. Lamas, PhD Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management
